Our  last summer release is now live with two of the most requested features:  copying chart images and exporting chart data. This will enable you to quickly create presentations and exporting data for your own analysis.

We added two icons in each widget enabling you to easily copy the chart image and export the chart data.

Copy Chart Image

To make a copy of a chart click the camera icon  located in the top right corner of the widget.

Depending on your browser and computer settings, this will either open a new browser page or an image viewer displaying the chart image. Simply right click on the image and select “Copy” and paste it into your presentation.

Export Chart Data

To export the data for a chart click the spreadsheet icon located in the top right corner of the widget.

This will enable you to save the chart data as a XML file, which you can open directly in Excel.

Compare Widget Display Option

We also added the option to display bar charts data as percent of total (in addition to total counts). This will enable you to compare percentages across one or more brands.

Our first August release is now live with an exciting feature many of you have asked for:  new ways to compare insights and brands automatically, to quickly and easily compare and contrast.

Compare Widget

The Compare widget is used to do comparison of Emotions, Behavior, Opinions and more — across one or multiple brands.

You can easily add additional brands to include in your comparison.

This enables you to compare any Insight across multiple brands.

We placed the widget in a new “Labs” Dashboard tab as it’s a brand new widget we are enhancing.  We would love to get your initial feedback on it as we improve it in upcoming releases.

Our second July release is now live with several features and improvements, including:

  • Additional increases in the number of Sound Bites we categorize,
  • Stream Widget showing more Sound Bites,
  • Improvement to Topic Manager.

Increasing Number of Categorized Sound Bites

In this release we more than doubled the number of Sound Bites we categorize.  When drilling down into Insights you will see a significant increase in the number of Sound Bites displayed.

Stream Widget Showing More Sound Bites

We extended the Stream Widget to show more Sound Bite, which are ranked and organized into high, medium and low precision linguistic matches. This gives you the ability to view as many Sound Bites as you like – from the most precise ones to simple keyword matches.

Topic Manager Improvements

As a large number of users leverage “Refine Options” we decided to make it more accessible and easier to use. Each Topic option is now clearly visible from the main window and utilizes the screen real estate better.

Analysis Resources

Under the  Help link at the top of the application we now have a Resources section that contains Excel and PowerPoint templates for creating and sharing analysis.  A few templates also have videos showing how to use them.  Check it out under Help > Resources.

Contexual Help

We are starting to add contexual help links in different areas of the application to simplify finding the right help information. Look for the orange question marks.

What’s Next?

Some of the items we are working on for the next releases include:

Our first July release is now live with several requested features and improvements, including:

  • Additional increases in the number of Sound Bites we categorize,
  • Grouping of similar Emotions and Behaviors, Companies and Products,
  • Improvements to the Highlight Widget.

Increasing Number of Categorized Sound Bites

We have continued to increase the number of Sound Bites we categorize into Likes, Dislikes, Emotions and Behaviors. You should see many more Sound Bites categorized into Insights.

Grouping of Similar Emotions & Behaviors

In our last release we added grouping of similar Likes and Dislikes. Continuing in this direction, we added grouping of similar Emotions and Behaviors. You will now see words and phrases like ‘complain about’, ‘complaint’, ‘blame’ and ‘bitch about’ all grouped into a single Insight.

Grouping of Companies & Products

The same (or similar) Companies and Products are also grouped. For example, company names like ‘Verizon’, ‘Verizon wireless’ and ‘Verizon wireless Corp’ are now identified as the same company.

Improved Highlight Widget

We also made improvements to the Highlight Widget. We made it easier to identify the ‘big’ insights from the ’smaller ones’ and made the top Insights ‘pop out’.

What’s Next?

Some of the items we are working on for the next set of releases include:

  • Continued increase in the number of Sound Bites we categorize
  • Enhanced analytics with new charts and analysis features

Our second June release is now live with several exciting features and enhancements.

Growing Forum Content

We dramatically increased the amount of forum content available in ConsumerBase. We incorporated more than 300 Million additional forum posts (4.5 months of history) with an average of 2 Million posts being added per day. All of which is building up to our existing index and directly available to be queried and analyzed in seconds.

Removal of Duplicates and Spam

No doubt you’ve noticed that the Internet is full of redundant pages (re-posts, etc.) and spam. The good news is that we have made several improvements so that you will see less spam and duplicate information when using ConsumerBase.

Grouping of Similar Likes & Dislikes

We improved our ability to group “similar” Likes and Dislikes together into the same Insight. You will now see words and phrases like “awesome”, “excellent”, “pretty awesome” and “terrific” all grouped into one Insight.

Improved Performance

You should see a noticeable improvement in query and selection speed. Querying and summarizing insights, even across tens of millions of hits, should only take a few seconds.

Look and Feel

In addition to adding new features we decided it was time to give ConsumerBase a minor face lift. We changed colors, fonts, layouts and other minor tweaks to improve readability, ease-of-use and overall aesthetics. We hope you agree. Please send your feedback to me!

Some of the items we are working on for the next set of releases include:

Our first June release just went live today with the following noteworthy features.

Resolving “It”

There is a lot of magic happening under the hood of ConsumerBase. One such “magic trick” is to figure out what a pronoun like “it” refers to (also called anaphora resolution for those who care) and then use this information when we search for insights.

In the example below you can see how ConsumerBase can identify that the iPad is “desirable”, and also know that “Big screen” and “Beautiful screen” are desirable attributes of the iPad by correctly identifying that “it” refers the iPad.

ConsumerBase can find these types of  references within a sentence as well as across multiple sentences. In our next release we will leverage  this feature further by finding more hits for a particular insight.

Improved Topic Sharing

Following up on our topic sharing feature that was released two weeks ago we improved the ability to view topics. You now have the option to view (1) All Topics, (2) My Topics and (3) Shared Topics.

What’s Next …

Some of the things we are working on for the next set of releases include:

  • Adding more forum content
  • Increased number of Sound Bites classified for an Insight
  • Grouping of linguistically similar Insights
  • Improved performance and stability

Stay tuned for more to come …

Our second release in May  just went out the door. Below is an overview of some of the key features in this release.

Increased Counts of Positives, Negatives and Insight Types

We tuned our linguistic rules to increase the number of Sound Bites we classify into Positives, Negatives, Likes, Dislikes, Emotions and Behaviors. You can expect up-to an order of magnitude more Sound Bites classified.

Shared Topics

You can now share your Topics with your colleagues.   Simply unselect the Private Topic check-box in the Topic Manager to make it accessible to other users at your company. The Saved Topics list shows your own Topics and all shared topics with the owner’s name in parenthesis. Users can run and analyze shared topics, but not edit them. To edit someone else’s Topic select it and make a copy and you now have your own Topic you can edit and work with.

Timeline Improvements

The Timeline Widget now dynamically shows the most appropriate time interval based on the date range displayed.

You can click and drag in the chart to zoom into a particular date range.

  • For date ranges more than four months the chart shows monthly counts
  • For four months or less the chart shows weekly counts
  • For a month or less the chart shows daily counts

Excel Export Enhancements

We added a dialog window allowing you to define how many Sound Bites to export and how many sentences to include in each Sound Bite.

What’s Next …

Some of the things we are working on for our June 11 release include:

  • Increased number of Sound Bites classified for each Insight
  • Grouping of linguistically similar Insights
  • Topic Manager – More sharing features

Stay tuned for more to come …

We are excited to announce our first bi-weekly release of ConsumerBase.

We added the following features in our May 17 release:

Excel Export

Many of our customers asked us to provide a way to export results out of  ConsumerBase to do their own analysis.

And so, two weeks after our initial release, we included the ability to export Sound Bites directly to an Excel spreadsheet.

The exported Excel spreadsheet includes Sound Bites with document and Insights information.

Performance & Stability

We made significant improvements to the query performance and application responsiveness. Most queries and filter operations now take just a few seconds to run and analyze – even for queries with several million hits.

Application stability also improved significantly resulting in fewer messages even for complex queries and filter operations.

What’s Next …

Things we are working on for our May 31st release include:

  • Sharing of Topics
  • Timeline widget
  • Sentiment recall

Stay tuned for more to come …
