There is a certain element of “survival of the fittest” Darwinism when it comes to technology, and being the first to market does not necessarily guarantee long-term success. I can remember back when Palm and Blackberry were duking it out for the top position, and now look where Palm is. I used to have one of those silly Palm Pixies, until Peter, my CEO, finally made me switch to the iPhone – and honestly, I haven’t looked back once.  And if the June 30th installment of the Wall Street Journal Sentiment Tracker  by NetBase is any indication, Blackberry will likely be going the way of the Palm in the not-too-distant future.  An overwhelming 82% of people on Facebook and Twitter think that Blackberry is doomed.  I think the lesson here is, as a tech company, you innovate or you die.  Maybe some disruption makers exist to clear the path for innovators to take the products to the next level.  Another 14% speculated on the product, 3% made jokes and a pathetically mere 1% are excited for the new device – gotta love that optimism.

I guess all you can do is laugh here, so check out some more of the jokes below:

BlackBerry 10 has been delayed until 2013. Good thing no one will notice.

“Aw man, I am so pissed RIM delayed the Blackberry 10 release.  I want it NOW” -nobody on planet earth.

So, BlackBerry 10 to be released when hell freezes over – is that right?
