Last week, NetBase unveiled the 2012 Election Mood Meter, real-time dials that move every 10 seconds as the sentiment for both President and Vice President candidates changes based on Twitter conversations. Using the Mood Meter, we have been able to track the positive and negative sentiment expressed for each candidate, particularly interesting during the Vice Presidental debate as well as the Presidential Town Hall debate.
Last night’s final Presidential debate focused on foreign policy, and the conversations on Twitter delivered highs and lows for both candidates as various topics, from Middle East strategy to Syrian policy and even “horses and bayonets,” were broached and discussed throughout the night. Here is the final graph that matches the topics to the sentiment meters’ output from the debate:
