Time to make an unpopular confession: I have never read the Harry Potter series, and frankly, was completely unaware that the social media world was blowing up with the news that J.K. Rowling is coming out with a new book, specifically geared towards an adult audience. However, here comes my redemption: with two of my four kids approaching the age where we can start diving into more complex books, we’ll be able to enjoy the literary genius of J.K. Rowling together! While it wasn’t groundbreaking news to me, social media users on Facebook and Twitter went crazy with the news of Rowling’s new book, and the February 25th installment of the Wall Street Journal Sentiment Tracker captured the conversation, with the help of NetBase. An overwhelming 58% of the chatter revolved around pure excitement at the new book and the direction that Rowling’s imagination might take. While jokes only comprised about 6%, I thought some of them were pretty cute – check out a couple extras below:

J.K. Rowling to publish book for adults… Intentionally this time!

JK Rowling is writing a new book. I just fainted, reawoke, and fainted again.

Geeking out HARDCORE to the new project JK Rowling is working on, I’m excited to read it. Even if it’s just a log of what she eats everyday.

After reading through some of the verbatim, I can see that this is clearly a bandwagon that I need to jump on. What about you – excited for the newest book from J.K. Rowling?
